Hey guys, about that director search they're doing (you got an e-mail about it Saturday)...
Dr. McCutchen, the Percussion head at the music school, is one of seven members of the search committee and has highly encouraged us to help him out with it. I know he will take our two cents/requests/opinions seriously, so if there's any thing you want to mention, you can e-mail him directly or let one of the percussion majors know and we'll pass it along.
Also, with each audition there is a Q&A session (just with the band members asking the questions, I believe) I wasn't able to attend today's but from what I hear it sounds like you can ask him ANYTHING you want.
I might add that tonight Keck asked if I knew how many of the drumline guys/gals were at the thing today, and I felt bad when I told him I didn't know because I wasn't there either. With us being such a large part of the ensemble, I think it's to OUR best interest to attend as much as we can in order to get a feel of what kind of person we may/may not be dealing with in a few months and ask questions related to the way we operate.
ALL REDCOAT MEMBERS
> All auditions take place in the Band Hall and are followed by a 20
> minute presentation and question/answer session:
> Candidate #1 Jeremy Earnhart
> Mon 3/24 5:10-5:50
> Candidate #2 Tom Keck
> Tues 3/25 4:05-4:45
> Candidate #3 Mike Robinson
> Mon 4/1 5:10-5:50
> Candidate #4 John Pasquale
> Tues 4/2 4:05-4:45
This first guy didn't appear to be too popular. He is currently the band director at L.D. Bell high school in Texas (BOA anyone?) and from what people tell me, he wants to "step it up" with the Redcoats. I tried to get as much info as I could about him, these are the points that I remember...
-no removal of jackets in the stands
-all the shows for the season would be related somehow. Instead of a bunch of different shows we would do shows that share a common theme (BOA anyone?)
-when asked the question about alcohol, he replied that it would be strictly prohibited. (ummmm......)
Don't quote me on any of that, it's just what I heard.
Also, Dr. McCutchen's e-mail...
